In this article I will share 10 ways that will help you stop wasting needles time, which should help you change your lifestyle so that you have more time to do the things that you love.
1. Buy shoes without laces
Why would you bend down every time to tie up your laces when you don’t have to? Simply slip your feet into your shoes and go. Nowadays there are so many shoes without laces that look stylish and cool that there is no need to buy shoes with laces any more. We put our shoes on over 5 times a day, that means we have to tie 10 laces! Now that is a huge waste of time.
2. Buy shoes you can easily slip into
I see so many people nowadays keeping their laces tight while they are walking their dog, at the convenience, grocery or at the shopping center?! First of all, having your shoes on tight is not good for your feet, it is not comfortable and it even looks silly. Loosen up your laces and discover true comfort while saving time. When you loosen up your laces it will be very easy and quick for you to slip on your shoes. you will not have to get on your knees so you can put your shoes on. Simply slip in and you are good to go!
3. Buy dress shirts with clip in buttons
Since I discovered dress shirts with clip in buttons I would never go back to the classic dress shirts that make you struggle to button each button up. The best part is you can rip the shirt off in a second; it will not rip, and your significant other will love how sexy you are.
4. Park you car in the nearest parking spot
This may be very obvious for the most of us, but for some stubborn and worried people it just seems to be rocket science. We all know that one person who loves their car/bike so much that they park miles away just so someone will not scratch their prized possession. People, this is ridiculous! A car is suppose to save you time not waste it. Put your material desires away and focus on what is more important; getting to where you want to be!
5. Your car doesn’t need a shower as often as you
This one is for all you car buffs and buffets; if you follow my advice in this time saver you will kill two birds with one stone (and I am not talking about literally killing two birds like you probably have killed because they smashed into your spotless auto glass). 1. You will save your time, because at the end of the day washing anything, including your car, is a chore and chores are tasks that are not fun. I understand washing your car may be fun when you first get it, but after a year or two it becomes just a bad habit that wastes your finite time in this life. I have a dog that I love more than you love your car and I don’t obsess about washing him, actually I dread having to wash him because I rather go for a bike ride, or a dog walk instead. 2. The less you wash your car, the more water and electricity you will save, and the less pollution you will create; this in effect helps preserve our planet. So please do us all a favour and stop washing your vehicles because of your addictive behaviour. At the end of the day if there are a few dirty spots on your car nobody will judge you, and the ones that will are either sick in the head like you or you will never see them again.
6. Every buckle doesn’t matter
Whenever I am travelling with friends, especially ones who are not experienced travellers, very often I notice myself waiting on them to strap in, and it drives me crazy. When travelling every moment counts so to me it is very important to get all the boring and unimportant things out of the way as quick as possible, so that I can enjoy exploring. Travel backpacks, camelbacks and other backpacks come with extra features and buckles that are designed for very specific purposes, and not all of them need to be used when travelling. Small treks, hikes, and bike rides happen often on road trips or when you are out there backpacking so it is important to get going asap. A Kodak moment is a Kodak moment because it only lasts a second or two, so it is extremely important to get your backpacks on and off as quick as possible so that you can capture that Kodak moment. Quit wasting your time and the time of your travel companions strapping in every buckle on your backpacks every time you need to put it on. Keep up by only strapping in the necessary buckles and you will have more valuable time doing what you are out there to do!
7. Your bedroom is not an art gallery
I can’t get over the amount of time that is wasted making bed sheets/duvets look perfect so they can be made all messy again the same day. My mom always drove me crazy with this, so I want to add this time saver here for all the OCD parents out there who waste their time and the time of their loved ones on tasks that are almost completely useless. I understand a clean bed is a nice sight, but do you really care to look at your bed once you clean it? Yes you do, when you get back into your bedroom at night and you waste more time untucking your sheets/duvets so you can get your tired butt into bed and then do it all over again the next day. I would say it takes at least 2 minutes to get your bed perfect. If you do this for 50 years, you will waste 600 hours cleaning your bed! For what!? For who?! Time is precious, and you need to preserve it for what matters (not mattress). Special occasions are okay, like your birthday or, New Years, or the first few dates, but common! Doing this every day is ridiculous, unless you live in a model home where you have visitors coming in to see your bedroom every day. If you are still not convinced, at least don’t be a perfectionist with your bed and just cover it quickly like the lady in the image above. Finally, make sure you do it with a smile on your face because you know you are saving time : )
8. Pay at the Pump
I see so many people lining up in the morning and after work inside of the gas station stores because they got into the bad habit of paying inside at the cash register. Don’t be afraid to make a switch and use the technology that is developed to help you save time. Simply insert your credit card into the gas pump, enter your pin and you are done! You even get a receipt in case you are collecting for tax purposes.
9. Not everything is suppose to be ironed
This one may be a no brainer to most of us, but from my own personal experience I know it is rocket science to some people. They say mothers know best, but this is one of those examples where that statement couldn’t be any more off. My dear mother always complained how she has no time for her self and that she is always busy doing chores. To ease her pain I told her that I don’t want her to iron my clothes, but I should have known that her time problem wasn’t just due to ironing my clothes, but it was also due to having to iron all our underwear, undershirts, pijamas, socks, bed sheets, duvets, pillow covers and towels. For crying out loud! these items are not suppose to be ironed!!!
A. Nobody sees these items and wrinkles on them are not even noticeable in the first place. B. It is a waste of electricity and C. it is a total waste of time! If you still cant stop ironing these items, save your time and go to a psychologist! In the long run you will save more time and money through OCD prescription meds then ironing endless amounts of items that should never be ironed.
10. Quit procrastinating and get to work
Now that you know how to save more time, you have more time to spend doing what you should be doing. With that said, stop wasting time doing nothing or just bumming around and get to work! You only have so much time left on earth so start making good use of it and make a difference.
